The Clothesline Muse is a devised theater production featuring music, dance, visual art and projections. Between old-school and new cool, a grandmother and granddaughter engage by unfolding stories from the “line.” Kariamu Welsh's choreography, Nnenna Freelon's original songs, and Maya Freelon Asante's set and visual projection designs are all a loving tribute to a long mother-line of wisdom passed forward.
The Clothesline Muse collaborators are family. Maya Freelon Asante and Nnenna Freelon are daughter and mother and Kariamu Welsh is Asante's mother-in-law.
